Inside Line Promotions – EL PASO, Texas (Aug. 3, 2020) – A trip to Iowa is on tap for John Carney II.

The SawBlade.com Xiphos saw blade and CSR Garage sponsored driver is venturing to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville to tackle the 30th annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, which runs Thursday through Saturday, before he heads to Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa for the Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Co. on Sunday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

It will be the start of two straight busy weeks with the ASCS Sprint Week set for six straight nights of racing next week.

“Racing has been real hit and miss this year,” Carney II said. “Schedules have been funny and races have been getting canceled. It’s nice to have something like that put together. It should be a lot of great competition.”

The ASCS Sprint Week runs Aug. 11 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.; Aug. 12 at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan.; Aug. 13 at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.; Aug. 14 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Aug. 15 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.; and Aug. 16 at Diamond Park Speedway in Nashville, Ark.

“The trick is to not wear yourself down with the traveling and the racing,” Carney II said. “You have to pace yourself because there’s no down time; just a lot of racing, a lot of maintenance. You could have a couple of bad nights and wrecks and that’s it. Your trailer is out of parts and you have to go home.

“With my experience I’m not going to put myself in a position to wreck. The consequences of having a wreck besides tearing up your equipment is you could get injured. You have to keep your head on straight and don’t take unnecessary chances. When you have a 10th-place car run 10th.”

Carney II has experience at most of the eight upcoming tracks. Only the races at Lakeside Speedway and at Diamond Park Speedway will be his debut at those tracks.

“I’m looking forward to nine races in an 11-day span,” he said. “Hopefully we can start off on a strong note and be consistent throughout both weeks.”
